Meet Dr Rani Jacobs
I have over 11 years experience working at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) in Melbourne both as a research psychologist and consultant psychologist for the Neurofibromatosis Clinic.
I have written numerous journal articles and book chapters on cognitive and behavioural outcome following childhood brain pathology and have co-edited a book on the development of the frontal lobes across the lifespan.
My work at the RCH has led to a particular interest in working with anxiety in children, adolescents and young adults, using both cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based interventions.
I have extensive experience in conducting cognitive assessments for educational or diagnostic purposes, or to assist with the development of a treatment plan for children with developmental disorders (e.g. ADHD, Asperger’s, learning difficulties), or acquired disorders (e.g MS, traumatic brain injury, tumour, stroke, meningitis).
I currently practice from Cheltenham and St Kilda Road, Melbourne. Where required, school visits can be arranged.
My qualifications include:
B.Sc., P.Grad. Dip. Adolescent & Child Psychology
PhD., M.A.P.S., MiCBT (Applied)
Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
